A light-filled family home behind a classic London façade
This full renovation reimagined a compact Mews house in the heart of Marylebone for a young Canadian family. The layout was restructured across all floors to enhance light, flow, and function. On the ground floor, a reoriented kitchen and new glazed partition bring daylight deep into the space, while built-in seating adds intimacy and purpose.
Upstairs, a redundant gallery void was closed to create a larger children’s room with a raised sleeping niche. Internal doors were replaced with sliding versions and raised in height to increase a sense of vertical space. The top floor now houses a generous master bathroom and dressing area, along with a small home office lit by new rooflights.
Natural oak joinery, terrazzo floors, and understated materials bring warmth and calm throughout. Key design elements include a sculptural staircase in oak and blackened steel, a custom marble fireplace, and a palette of modern classics from Vitra, Carl Hansen, and 101 Copenhagen.
